Residents angry over development next door BY GRACE CABELL Regents Park residents are angry they were not consulted about a looming subdivision development next door. A 63-home subdivision named Regents Park Close has been proposed in Casebrook. Developers Regents Park Close Ltd say it was not publicly notified because no one would be adversely

affected by it. But residents have hit back saying it will have a huge effect on them. Styx Mill Plant Centre and Landscaping owner Jenny Hughes, who also lived on the property, said 260m of the subdivision would back up directly against the centre. “We weren’t given any consultation by the city council at all. The big problem for us is drainage. We

have no assurances of drainage and don’t want to become a lake because of the subdivision. “There’s a drain at the end of our property which we keep an eye on, and it drains the whole area. The drain was only just blocked with trees at the end of last year and then now there is the added pressure of all the new houses.” Regents Park resident and Styx Mill Residents Association member

Jo Nicholls said there were worries the name sounded too similar to theirs. “At our last annual meeting a few weeks ago when they [residents] were not happy about the name. It is proposed an 800 sq m single-storey facility housing a library, large dance hall and meeting rooms is built on the former creche site. A joint working group set up to have input into the development of a replacement Bishopdale Community Centre and Library unanimously

agreed that the former creche site was its preferred site for the new facility on February 24. This followed a recommendation from council staff charged with evaluating a number of site options. The JWG considered five site options including the former Bishopdale Community Centre and Library site in Bishopdale Mall, which was too small to house an 800 sq m facility. Members of the JWG include city councillor Jamie Gough, community board members Val Carter, David Cartwright, Sally Buck and Bridget Williams, Bishopdale Centre Association representative Maria McIntyre, Bishopdale Community

Trust representative Tania Smith and Tony Ralfe from Bishopdale Sports. Fitness trail plans approved BY GRACE CABELL

Concept plans for a fitness trail at Burnside Park have been approved. Last year the city council proposed a $69,000 fitness park trail at Burnside Park. At the Fendalton-Waimairi Community Board meeting last week, the concept plans were approved. The trail would include four separate stations situated around the edges of the park. The city council held a consultation period between November

7-21, where 41 submissions were received. Results showed 83 per cent of respondents were in support of the plan, 12 per cent did not support it and five per cent of respondents gave no response. But the trail would only go ahead if funding was provided by the community for three of the four stations. Fitness Station 1 will be installed by the end of this year. The Commodore Hotel had provided the $10,000 worth of funding for this station.

It will include a sit-up bench, push-up bars, stretching rail installed on asphalt. Fitness stations two, three and four will all be installed by the end of 2017 if funding is provided. Fitness Station 2 will include a vertical ladder, stepper, chin up bars installed on bark soft fall. Fitness Station 3 will be a longterm project and does not yet have a final installation date. It will include two workout stations with three items of fitness equipment on each.

The city council is asking Papanui residents to have their say on a large electronic billboard proposed for Victoria St. The 8m by 4m LED billboard screen would stay in place for two years, with six to eight static advertisements shown in 6sec intervals. It would have a total height of 12.9m above ground with a static display. Public consultation began last month and will run until July 18 this year. Submissions are available at http://ccc.govt. nz/.

So Thomas can you tell me a bit about what you do? We have been doing the penguin thing since late 2010. Somehow we got the name Jackie Stevenson, she did all the birds and I think she was a bit overwhelmed. I think she was happy we could at least take the penguins. Penguins are quite labour intensive, there is quite a lot of cleaning and washing. We needed to get a permit from the Department of Conservation. How do the penguins come to you? We get them directly from DoC rangers or directly from the public. Often people might be taking their dog for a walk and come across an injured penguin and then come home and Google us. And do you do this work from your home? It is our home. We started in

St Albans but we lost our place there, it was flooded three times from the February 2011 earthquake. Just prior to the earthquake we had 13 penguins in our care. When the earthquake hit we only had one penguin and I raced back home and just managed to scoop it out of the silt the poor wee thing. The new place in Sockburn was a good chance to incorporate a wee penguin area, we have native plants and artificial rocks. Once they are healthy they can live outside. We bought the section just after the earthquake and later built a new house so we thought of the penguins when we did it. We moved in in November 2013. Did you ever consider stopping the rehabilitation after the earthquake?

are dehydrated and need fluids often through a feeding tube. If they can’t keep their heads up that’s usually an indication to give them subcutaneous fluids under the skin. We are both nurses so it comes in handy. We are both in Christchurch public Intensive Care Unit.

penguin and patient care When a bird is dehydrated we start feeding them a fish smoothie which is yum and we put it through a feeding tube and once their digestive system is working again they can have a whole fish. It is usually anchovies for the little ones and the bigger penguins like the yellow-eyed penguins get sardines. And what happens once they get their health back? We release the little blue penguins in Harris Bay, there is a colony of them near Taylors Mistake. They are flipper banded and go back there. The bigger ones are released in Flea Bay. How long do the penguins usually stay in your care? The longest we had stay was 80 days but usually we have the penguins for around three weeks plus or minus. We usually have anywhere between 10 to 45 birds here over a season. The most we have had was 13 penguins in our backyard at once. Inside is the intensive

One we had last year would trumpet when we came out with the fish, and we usually have to try and force feed the birds initially, but from the first day that bird was hand fed. We had a yellow-eyed penguin chick called Fluffy who had its foot entangled in plant material on Banks Peninsula. The mother initially looked after it but gave up and left. If DoC didn’t take it in it would have died. It came in at 1.7g, they say anything less than 2kg is a death sentence. We had it

We do name them, the most crucial time is the first 24-48 hours when they come in, if the bird survives that time usually the odds are good. Most of the birds that die will be within 24 hours. So we decided to name them once they make it through that time. We usually name them after the people that bring them in. So you said you lived in Germany, when did you move to New Zealand? We are both from Germany, we came here in 2002 initially to have an overseas work experience but then we liked the lifestyle. Now we are permanent residents. And are you partners? been together ever since. Kristina is from Hamburg and I was born in Cologne. Did you ever expect when you moved here that you would be doing this? We were hoping for it, but never thought it would happen. In 2001 there was a huge oil spill in South Africa. There were about 20,000 penguins affected, it was a huge disaster so we went to help. One of our friends had 300 penguin chicks in their backyard and we had to clean the penguins and care for them before they were relocated to the east coast of South Africa. We realised that having penguins in your backyard was quite nice. What do you feed them? The weak ones start with a fish smoothie four times a day and they get to eat a whole fish when they are strong enough. After a

couple of days they start hard feeding. We get the fish from United Fisheries and now we also get them from a salmon hatchery in Kaiapoi. What are the most common reasons for them being brought in? A lot of them have bite wounds, you can’t really tell what they are from but most of them are from barracudas. Yellow-eyed penguins can often get attacked by sharks and manage to get away. One had a propeller wound. Lots of the little blues are starving or don’t cope once they are fledged so they end up having to look after themselves and are brought in here. Is it a full-time job? Yes, there’s a lot of cleaning and we have to move cages, washing and sorting fish. Usually once they have had their last feed at eight-ish it is quiet for the night, it’s only when we have the small birds that need more attention. I work as a night nurse and during the penguin season we try to get opposite shifts so someone is always with the penguins. I still go to the gym two times a week and I used to play tennis in St Albans but I haven’t found a club here yet. Kristina is doing yoga but it’s nice to just lie down. Do you know when they will be brought in? It can come any time, sometimes I can come home from a night shift and we are getting one. We are on call all the time.

Great effort in Cotswold duathlon Cotswold School pupils raced their hearts out in the school’s duathlon. Five to 11-year-old pupils participated in the competition last month. Children brought to school either their bicycle or scooter, and each classroom raced around the school on the duathlon course. Every child was involved in the competition organised by sports leaders and teachers David Guthrie and Peter Harper. Swinging into action at camp Cotswold School pupils have headed out on their first school camp for the year. More than 70 year 6 pupils visited the Waipara Adventure Centre. Activities included a waterslide, flying fox, grass sliding, tree climbing, cycling, orienteering, and frisbee golf. Favourites included the BMX bike riding and the huge waterslide. The last day of the camp fin-

ished with a team activities and challenges. Campbell MacPherson, 10, said the water slide was a great challenge. “It was steep which made you go faster.” Eimi Hongo, 10, said it was her first camping experience. “The flying fox was fun. I enjoyed tree climbing the best.” Benj Arias, 10, said the best thing about the camp was the food.

GRASSROOTS SPORT Papanui players make league tournament team Three Papanui players were selected in the tournament team at the recent junior secondary school rugby league 9s competition. The three were Levi Rosewarne, Dylan Bates and Jimmy Wihong. In spite of having three of the best players on show, Papanui lost out in the final to St Thomas going down in a close match 14-10. This was St Thomas’ second win in as many weeks as its senior side won their tournament also. Aranui finished third in the tournament played at Wainoni Park where they beat Linwood College in the shield final. The third placing comes after the senior side came second in their tournament a week earlier. They could not quite get the job done in the semi-final but put in a big performance to take third spot beating Linwood 26-6. Taani Taufa of St Thomas was named the player of the tournament and in the tournament team. He was also selected in the tournament team in the senior event. Alexander was deemed to have caused the crash and was given a 30 second penalty which saw him finish in sixth but it did not matter as he had enough points to win the championship by 66 points over

McNee. Alexander is now looking at his options as to where he takes his career, the Toyota Racing Series is an option as well as looking at racing in Australia. The TRS is New Zealand’s premier single-seat racing series and is internationally recognised now, Alexander said that would be great option for him. He said funding is always the issue in motorsport and he would take some time over the next couple months to decide where to go next.

Push for change to new bus system Bishopdale residents are pushing for changes to the new bus system. Four new bus services were introduced across the city when Environment Canterbury changed 75 per cent of the Metro network in December last year. But bus users in the area say the changes have made using the bus more difficult and are asking for the routes to be reviewed. The Bishopdale Community Trust is collecting stories from affected users to send to ECan. “We hope this will get them to reconsider the changes that have been made and to look at some other options. We feel it is important that we keep on talking about the lack of buses in our area,” trust community development worker Tania Smith. Bishopdale resident Stephen Calvert said he was using the No 119 bus and the Comet, but now may be forced to buy a car. “Now I’m cycling to work, fine in the summer weather but I’m dreading the winter. We run one car which my wife uses for work. It seems a false economy to run a second car for me to get to work, but I’m considering it.”

Prior to the bus service changes last year, the community trust made 164 submissions to ECan during the consultation period in an attempt to stop the changes. “A lot of people are really worried about winter coming because they have to walk quite a distance to the bus. It’s affected people’s ability to socialise and we will see that even more in winter time. We know post-quake how important it is for people to be connected,” she said. ECan public transport manager David Stenhouse said the bus service would be reviewed in mid to late 2015. “Bishopdale is an area which has had a service removed due to low patronage, and so now customers in this area travel via the 125 to Northlands to connect with the Blue Line, rather than travelling direct to the city. We understand this is not ideal and we will review services in this area, including the Orbiter, in mid to late 2015.”

PAPANUI ROTARY CLUB Wikipedia shows the fount of all knowledge, gift-wrapping originated in China in 2BC. Chih pao (envelopes) were used to enclose monetary gifts from the court to government officials. These days the Chinese use red wrapping paper for luck, the Japanese prefer boxes and cloth, and in the United States, Christmas gift-wrapping contributes five million tonnes of paper and plastic waste to the environment annually. Sobering. In Christchurch, a busy hive of Papanui Rotarians and community groups has been buzzing away, happily gift-wrapping at Northlands Mall each December for the last six years. It is surely our most fun project and there should be an all-out scrum to join the next roster. Last year was this writer’s inaugural experience, with a small child sneaking up to the booth bearing a stick of deodorant for big brother, a stressed mother with grizzly toddlers desperate to get the presents out of her hair, a young lover, blushing, while his girlfriend’s negligee is carefully swathed in paper . . . we wrappers are privileged to share such special moments. More than $16,000 was raised

It also includes Aratupu Preschool and Nursery and Kiwi Family Trust, which will fund a

disadvantaged youth to attend a week-long camp and support their grandparenting programme, the Belfast Anglican Youth Group, which will sponsor a leader-development camp, and the Papanui Youth Development Trust. The final word needs to be given to the intangible rewards of working in collaboration across our community, rubbing shoulders and partnering with wonderful people from many like-minded organisations which give their all to make a difference.

This time the horse was freed without drama by the red watch team from Sockburn. There has been a seasonal upsurge recently in cars being stolen and set alight. Sometimes, as in Halswell last Sunday night, not just the car involved. In this case, grass and scrub ignited from the burning vehicle caused quite a big vegetation fire that took four and a half hours to fully extinguish. Keep cars locked, garaged if possible. Make it hard for the ratbags.

Walk2Work Day this Wednesday (March 11) Increasingly, the health beneﬁts of active commuting and using public transport are being recognised and are well researched.

his is a way to combat poor health and prevent a polluted environment. For every 1200 steps or 12 minutes of walking (about one kilometre) you burn calories, improve your health and happiness, and reduce your disease risk; 1300 steps save 72 cents on car costs and avoid 0.2 kilograms of carbon emission. People who commute by bus or train and ferry get on average over three times the exercise of those in a car. And bus and trains are the safest way to get around. The question is, if it’s so great why aren’t more people walking and using public transport? Living Streets president Andy Smith says, “Walking is part of every trip but we want people to walk more. We do see more people walk and use public transport in some places, but our cities have been

developed for the car. This makes it difficult to get the exercise we need everyday – recommended 30 minutes activity most days for adults, and more for children and teenagers. We think it should be easy to walk or use public transport to where you want to go everyday, save the car for out of the ordinary trips. We want to see the Government promote walking and public transport through events like Walk2Work Day, and make a fundamental change to more people-centred cities.” Living Streets Aotearoa started the annual walk day in 2009 to promote walking, its health benefits and its priority position in sustainable transport. This Wednesday, people nationwide are encouraged to give walking, or walking and taking public transport a go.

Hangi celebration at Harewood The Harewood School community has celebrated the start of the year with a hangi. The hangi was very well attended by nearly 300 adults and children. All classes participated in the preparation of the hangi.

The pit was dug, the vegetables were prepared and the hangi was put in the ground. Parents worked hard alongside the children over the three days skilfully-led by hangi organiser Yo Gulliver. The food was generously

supplied by the school community, and funding was provided by the New Zealand Red Cross Christchurch Schoolchildren’s Grant. The school’s kapa haka group opened the hangi with a performance.

ARLIC — it’s the one pleasure gourmets cannot live without. It’s almost as fundamental to cooking as salt and pepper, and is widely accepted as long as it is used discreetly. Garlic is enjoyed for its flavour more than for its nutritional value although it can help protect against heart disease and destroy harmful bacteria. Most of New Zealand’s garlic is grown in the Marlborough region although Central Otago

now produces a respectable crop. The combination of a hard winter followed by a long, dry summer suits garlic growing perfectly. Pukekohe, south of Auckland, also produces garlic and many Kiwis grow their own, planting

cloves on the shortest day of the year and harvesting bulbs close to the longest day. New Zealand garlic is distinctively fresh, juicy and pungent, especially compared with imported varieties. One local clove is as strong as three imported ones. New Zealand garlic is never cool-stored — a process that causes the bulbs to lose their juiciness — but will keep for up to 11 months in a cool, dark, wellventilated place. Several commercial varieties are grown, ranging from white

to cream to stripy pink. Elephant garlic features larger cloves and a milder flavour. Smoked garlic is smoked over manuka and herbs that impart a subtle, sweet, nutty flavour. For best results, store smoked garlic in a covered container in a cool place or the fridge. Black garlic (garlic noir) is white garlic that is given a lowheat treatment in a confined enclosure for 60 days. During that time the sugar levels increase to 60 brix (the sugar level in an aqueous solution), the

garlic “ferments” and becomes black. The texture is soft and smooth; the flavour a cross between balsamic vinegar and liquorice. It is available from selected supermarkets and many delis. Garlic burns easily, so take care when sauteing or frying. For a more pungent flavour, add crushed garlic to some dishes at the end of cooking. I prefer to crush garlic by sprinkling it with a little salt and mashing it to a paste with the blade of a strong cook’s knife.

Bishopdale pupils reap their hard work Bishopdale School is showing the community its green thumb. The school has entered the Odering’s School Garden Show with a vegetable-themed garden. Keen gardener and school teacher Rob Lines entered the school with the exhibit “Bishopdale School’s Bee Garden.” During lunchtimes and playtimes Mr Lines can often be found tending to the vegetable patch at the school, growing potatoes, sweetcorn, peas and tomatoes. Pupils have been helping out with gardening and watering the growing plants.

Killer, paedophiles walk in park BY GRACE CABELL St Albans residents are upset that two convicted paedophiles and a killer are allowed to take daily morning walks in their local park. Murderer Nicholas Iain Hawker, and sex offenders Lloyd Alexander McIntosh and Ivan Andrew Campbell, have been taking daily walks around the park, which includes a playground and skate area. High-risk paedophile McIntosh was jailed for raping a 23-monthold baby and a six-year-old. Campbell was jailed for 14 years in 2001 after chaining up a teenage boy in a wardrobe and piercing, tattooing and sexually abusing him. He fled the Salisbury St Foundation on St Albans St, in 2012, and was on the run for almost a week before being caught by police. Hawker strangled 15-year-old Vanessa Woodman, slit her throat and stabbed her 32 times. He was 15 at the time. Shirley-Papanui Community Board deputy chairman Aaron Keown said the issue could be raised at an upcoming meeting. He said the community board was completely unaware it had been happening. “It’s a tough one isn’t it. How does society deal with them? They’re obviously supervised but it’s one of those things. If they’re out of prison they’ve got to be integrated. “I think it’s potentially a bit cruel

GETING THE RIGHT

FIRST AID TRAINING

ot all first aid certificates are created equal. While first aid courses must achieve prescribed New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) standards to be certified, not all training providers deliver the same course. There can be big differences in first aid courses between a range of training providers. Some courses range from teaching only the basic NZQA specified content and nothing else, to providing detailed and comprehensive content designed to familiarise participants to a wide range of likely emergencies. Providers offering shortened courses or courses not meeting the NZQA training requirements are now in the spotlight. NZQA and the Department of Labour have published a factsheet to outline requirements for providers, learners and employers for first aid training based on currently registered NZQA unit standards. Below is a summary of what we think you should know. Course differences Training providers can market their courses under a wide range of names such as Essential First Aid, Workplace First Aid or Comprehensive First Aid and many other eye-catching titles. The term ‘workplace’ can vary from a small office to a large factory where the risks and potential injuries are just as wide. Employers should be cautious in thinking that a one-day workplace first aid course will meet their needs in industries such as construction, engineering, forestry and industrial. More advanced learning is important to meet the proper workplace

assessments and health and safety obligations. The content of courses can also vary. Employers should check to see the first aid course is relevant to their particular industry risks. If there are risks of falling, or medium to high injury, then a take careful look in the shortened courses as these subjects may not be covered. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that employees attend courses appropriate to their industry risks. Unit standard-based first aid training These are the minimum requirements for both the initial and refresher training. The minimum duration of first aid training and assessment will be based on: • Unit Standards 6400, 6401 (or 26552) and 6402 (or 26551), a minimum of 12 hours training and assessment • Unit Standards 6401 (or 26551) and 6402 (or 26552), a minimum of eight hours training and assessment • For refresher training, where the learner’s certificate is no older than two years and three months from date of issue, a minimum of six hours training and assessment First aid training must cover the outcomes of the NZQA first aid unit standards being assessed and any additional modules identified by the employer through the workplace risk assessment process as outlined in the Department of Labour guidelines. Only first aid training providers accredited by NZQA can award the credits and issue a first aid certificate. Care needs to be taken to ensure that the provider is actually registered with NZQA for this purpose. NZQA conducts regular external evaluative

reviews on all training providers. New Zealand Red Cross is proud to hold a double Highly Confident accreditation in both Educational Performance and Capability in Self-Assessment. This means that NZ Red Cross is a Category One training provider. First aid refresher training Refresher training is required every two years to maintain the certificates. This is a requirement and not something for the provider to decide. The requirement allows for a three-month period of grace, so the cut off period is two years and three months which should allow sufficient time to enrol onto a suitable course. The refresher training should ensure the certificate holder is current in first aid

Take a walk, save the Light may ease country billions of dollars heart failure Regular exercise is a “miracle cure staring us in the face” that can dramatically cut our risk of cancer, dementia, heart disease and diabetes, doctors say. In a new review of existing evidence that reveals the full extent of the benefits of exercise, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges says the improvements in health and savings to the public health budget could be “incalculable”. Just 30 minutes of exercise five times a week could prevent many cases of Type 2 diabetes, which costs billions a year, the report says. It could also cut the risk of heart disease by 40 per cent, stroke and dementia by 30 per cent and breast cancer by 25 per cent. Bowel cancer rates could be nearly halved. Exercise includes brisk walking, dancing, cycling and even sex. Scarlett McNally, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who led the review of more than 200 pieces of research, says people have to “change what we think of as normal”. “What we are seeing in our hospitals and surgeries up and down the country is that ‘normal’ has become not enough exercise,” she says. “Too many of my patients are paying the price for that with broken bones and years of ill health that could have been avoided by

However, half the population does not do enough, a figure that rises to two-thirds among the over-65s. Doctors should be doing more to encourage patients to be more active in easy, everyday ways. A regular brisk walk that makes you slightly sweaty and out of breath, or comparable activity, would be enough. “This is about reminding doctors and patients that fitting small amounts of regular exercise into their schedule can make a huge difference to their health,” says

McNally. “It could be as simple as taking the stairs rather than a lift, kicking a ball about with your children or grandchildren.” Professor Dame Sue Bailey, chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, says: “This is about people and their doctors believing that the small effort involved is worth it.” “There really is a miracle cure staring us in the face, one which too many patients and doctors have quite simply forgotten about.” Dr Maureen Baker, chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, says the findings are “astounding”. “GPs are well-placed to educate patients about the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle, and today’s report shows how a modest amount of exercise can ensure our long-term health,” she says.

Scientists are to begin work on a revolutionary “traffic light pacemaker” that controls the beating of damaged hearts using blue and yellow fibre-optic lights inside the body. Heart attacks and other major cardiac problems can damage the heart muscle, leaving patients vulnerable to dangerous disruptions—known as arrhythmia—often leading to heart failure. Researchers are exploring whether stem cell-generated heart cells could be implanted to regenerate damaged areas. But progress has been held back because tests in the laboratory and in a small number of patients have shown new tissue often fails to beat in time with remaining healthy heart muscle. Now, a joint UK-Israeli project is to develop the use of special proteins that react to light to regulate the heartbeat. Professor Chris Denning, of the University of Nottingham, who will lead the UK part of the project, said: “Good old Nature has been using these things for a long time. Like those in the back of the eye, they receive a light signal that converts into an electrical signal. “All we are doing in this project is hijacking some of that natural technology and putting it into heart cells so that hearts

become sensitive to light.” Blue light emitted by a pacemaker, which will shine on the implanted tissue through fibreoptic wires, will react with one of the proteins to induce electrical activity that will make the new muscle contract. Yellow light will have the opposite effect, reacting with other protein to suppress electrical signals and prevent contraction. Applied in sequence, these lights make the muscle mimic a natural heartbeat. The three-year project will assess the tissue grafts in rats then, if successful, in pigs. If results are positive the devices could be tested on humans within five years. Research will be carried out at the University of Nottingham and the Israel Institute of Technology.

Parking at Ferrymead Park is limited this year because of soccer ground upgrades for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The main parking and bus departure point to both starts is now from McCormacks Bay Reserve.

Before the event starts

Buses to both start locations will be running from McCormacks Bay Reserve. Park your car in the designated car parking area at McCormacks Bay Fields and catch the special Red Bus to either start location. Buses will be departing between 7:30am and 8:30am for the City2Surf 14km 9am start at Centennial Park, and between 8:30am and 9:30am for the 10am Heart Foundation 6km start at Hansen Park. The 6km start drop off point is on Opawa Road (near Ford Street) where it’s an 800m walk to the Hansen Park start. Please note: McCormacks Bay Road is one way so you must enter from the western end (Mt Pleasant). Exit is at the eastern end (Redcliffs).

After you’ve finished the event

A free shuttle will operate between Ferrymead Park (finish) and McCormacks Bay (parking area). Alternatively, if you parked near your starting point, after completing the event catch the special Red Bus from Ferrymead Park back to your start location. Buses will be departing between 10am and 2pm, so if you have to leave early or wish to relax and enjoy the entertainment and prize giving there is a bus to suit you. We suggest that pick-ups are arranged from Ferry Road – do not attempt to enter Bridle Path Road or Ferrymead Park Drive as it will be too congested.
